2012 Dressage at Devon Forum
Equine Emergency Rescue Techniques - Be Prepared!
When: Wednesday, Setpember 26, 2012 - Lecture time: 7pm, doors open at 6pm
Where: In the Devon Club - under the main grandstand on the show grounds
Cost: $25 at the door (no dinner included) - Cash bar.
What: Joanne Kricker is a park ranger at Fair Hill Natural Resource Management Area in Fair Hill, MD. who has advanced training in equine emergency rescue.
Every horse, no matter how quiet or well educated, has the potential to become involved in an emergency incident and need to be rescued. If this were to happen to you and your horse, how confident are you that you could contribute to his rescue without further injuring him or putting your own life and the lives of others at risk?
Her presentation will present invaluable information for horse owners, barn managers, riders, trainers, anyone who trailers a horse and anyone else who works with horses because, if emergency responders who attend an incident involving a horse do not understand horses or are unfamiliar with equine emergency rescue techniques, your help will increase their own safety and that of the horse.
She will present the methods and tools necessary to successfully extricate a horse from entrapment using low-tech, low-risk options that are easier, quicker and safer than extreme techniques using helicopters, cranes or 4WD vehicles that are sometimes seen on YouTube.
